BERLIN (Reuters) – The German subsidiary of Russian energy group Rosneft has reported a hacking attack, Die Welt newspaper reported on Sunday, citing the country’s cybersecurity watchdog BSI.

The BSI has offered assistance in dealing with the problem, which emerged Friday evening or early Saturday morning, and issued a cybersecurity alert to other energy industry companies, the newspaper said.

So far, there has been no impact on Rosneft’s business or supply situation, although the company’s systems have been affected, the newspaper said.

The world quoted security sources as saying that the hacking group Anonymous was suspected of being behind the attack, which was traced back to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Neither at the BSI nor at Rosneft Germany was anyone immediately available for a statement.

Der Spiegel also reported on the cyber attack and added that the BKA Federal Criminal Police Office was investigating. At first, no one could be reached at the BKA for comment.
