And it does appear to be a very Good Friday – as the meteorologists say the country bakes in 22C heat.

Bars and pubs in Leeds, Newcastle and other major cities were packed to capacity.

It seems there will be plenty of sore heads on Sunday morning as Brits down drinks in celebration Easter in the style.

A guy was pictured enjoying a HUGE pint while laughing with friends in Leeds.

Another man was seen cruising the streets on a BMX – with a nervous-looking lady skipping the taxi line and riding on his back.

Crowds of girls strutted arm in arm with their buddies through town, embracing the spring months in summer dresses and racy tops.

Unfortunately, she fell in the street while she was fooling around with her friends.

But the punters in Newcastle did not want to be outdone by the northern party.

Grinning friends posed for photos while enjoying the nightlife on the Toon.

And one woman proved she was definitely in the Easter spirit by donning a pair of blue and white bunny ears as she headed out.

Another group of guys were pictured enjoying a late night snack, tactically soaking up the beers after a night out.

Brits were pictured enjoying the celebrations across the city.

The fun should continue in the coming days.

Even if you don’t want to jump on the boozy train, Brits can enjoy a long weekend in the sun outdoors.

The mercury is supposed to explode over Easter, with blue skies and warm gusts of wind expected across the country.

The good weather comes courtesy of a cloud of mild air straight from the Sahara.

But along with plenty of spring sunshine, the cloud also caused a bizarre meteorological phenomenon.

The sky turned red as desert sands were swept up into the atmosphere. People living in the East and Southeast may have spotted telltale orange sediment on their cars and windows.

But the Met Office said the best weather will arrive on Good Friday – ahead of the Easter weekend.

They said the southerly airflow will bring mild temperatures this weekend, with mercury peaking at 22C in the southeast.
