Rat stealing shows up amid Mets rally

Advice is just what they needed.
The Mets won 4-2 at the Nationals on Tuesday night and had an extra spectator for the all-important comeback inning. SNY cameras caught a rat on the field in the upper part of the sixth inning just before James McCann’s sack fly put the team ahead from a 2-0 deficit to start the frame.
“During one game, I saw birds, cats, everything but rats. The first time,” said national star Juan Soto after the game.

It was perhaps a fitting situation for the Mets to find themselves in after last season’s scuffle between Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil at the Citi Field tunnel. The duo then invented the excuse that whether they’d just spotted a rat or a raccoon on the loose, the tunnel hoopla was over.
This time McNeil, who had a double in two runs before the rat sighting, had no doubt.
“That was a rat,” McNeil said.
The win put the Mets at 21-10.
