Queen Elizabeth snubbed in the Emmys segment “In Memoriam” 2022

The Emmys royally screwed it up.

While the ceremony got emotional with poignant tributes to deceased stars in the In Memoriam section, the late Queen Elizabeth II was left out of the segment Monday night.

Fans immediately took to Twitter, calling out the television academy for failing to honor the monarch, who died just last week.

“I really wanted to see the Queen in memoriam.” wrote a fan.

“Wow, so they’re just letting Queen Elizabeth out of the Emmys In Memoriam?” another interjected. “I’m almost surprised they didn’t include The Queen in the In Memoriam #Emmys.” someone else said.

“Shouldn’t Queen Elizabeth be in memoriam at the #Emmys2022?” asked another.

“Queen Elizabeth was not in the in-memory section, even after everything she did for Olivia Colman.” added another.

Queen Elizabeth II was portrayed in “The Crown,” which garnered 63 nominations and 21 wins across seasons of the royal drama; Both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman have won awards for their portrayals of her. However, the Netflix show, which halted production of the show “as a mark of respect” for the late monarch, was not up for awards in 2022.

However, some didn’t care that she was left out.

“I don’t know if I agree with the tweeter who said Queen Elizabeth should have been introduced during the #Emmys ‘In Memoriam’ segment. I mean, her cameo on Gilligan’s Island was fun and she did it on SNL this year, but she was never really a big TV star.” said a joker.

That The Royal Family announced the death of Queen Elizabeth at the age of 96 September 8th at Balmoral Castle, her beloved summer residence in Scotland.

King Charles III, 73, immediately assumed her role as head of state while mourning the loss of his beloved mother.

“The passing of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” he said in a statement.

“We deeply mourn the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a beloved Mother. I know their loss will be deeply felt across the country, in the rich and in the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” he added.

Tributes poured in from around the world following news of her death last week, including world leaders offering their condolences, celebrities paying their respects and contributors to late-night shows.

Several international monuments were also converted into memorials to the monarch, including the New York Stock Exchange and a billboard in Times Square.

Shockingly, even American sport honored the Queen with special honours. The Yankees posted their picture on the scoreboard during a game in the Bronx last week, and the US Open held a moment of silence ahead of the women’s singles semifinals. The NFL also observed a minute’s silence before their season opener.

Several UK events scheduled for the coming days have also been postponed, including the BMW PGA Championship and some events scheduled for London Fashion Week.

Meghan Markle – who was at the side of Prince Harry over the weekend when she honored the Queen and seemingly reconciled with Prince William and Kate Middleton after an alleged feud – also put her podcast on hold for the period of mourning.
