Public outrage as Prince Andrew is set to attend Prince Phillip’s church service following a sexual assault case

Former Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox is one of 80 new fellows accepted into Scotland’s National Academy of Science and Letters.

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) awards a bursary to individuals from the arts, business, public service, civil society and academia who, in the opinion of the organisation’s jury, have made outstanding contributions to social progress and development.

This year’s group will join the current RSE Fellowship of some 1,700 high achievers recognized as some of the greatest thinkers, researchers and practitioners working in or with Scotland today.

As well as topping the charts with the Eurythmics, Lennox has also had a notable, award-winning solo career.

She is also Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, founder of The Circle: a non-profit organization of women working together for equality between women and girls, and was a former Special Envoy to the Scottish Parliament.

Speaking about her nomination as a Fellow of RSE, Lennox said she was “really humbled and honored”.

“Apart from a lifelong making music, my passionate passion is for the most important issues facing all of humanity at this precarious time, namely the sustainability of our precious planet and the actual implementation of human rights and justice, especially in relation to the lives of women and Girls in all four corners of the world,” she said.
