Proud Boys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio has been arrested for conspiracy in the Capitol riot

WASHINGTON — The leader of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group was arrested on Tuesday on conspiracy charges over his role in a coordinated attack on the US Capitol to prevent Congress from confirming President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.

Former Proud Boys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio was not present when the riot broke out on January 6, 2021.

Police arrested Tarrio two days before the Washington riots and charged him with destroying a Black Lives Matter banner at a historic black church during a December 2020 protest.

Tarrio was released from prison on January 14 after serving his five-month sentence on the case.
