Prince Andrew ‘could settle Virginia Roberts sex case out of court if it goes to trial’, insider claims

CAUSE Andrew could settle the Virginia Roberts sexual assault case out of court if it goes to trial, insiders have claimed.

The Duke of York’s lawyers are keeping the settlement option “on the table” due to the negative impact a court case could have on other senior royals – including the 95-year-old Queen.

Andrew’s team has yet to discuss the possibility of settlement but has not ruled it out as an option, which is understood.

Almost all US civil cases are resolved out of court – often for a substantial fee.

It happened when the Duke’s team was waiting for a judge to decide Ms Roberts’ civil lawsuits should be leave it all together.

They claimed a secret 2009 deal she made with the billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein exempt Andrew from legal action.

But Judge Lewis Kaplan The inability to accept the pending offer means that the attorneys will have to decide whether to settle or risk fierce objections from the attorneys in court.

An insider told Daily mail: “Apparently, this is a US case involving US attorneys and involves a US civil lawsuit.

“In fact, 99% of US civil cases are settled out of court.

“A solution is always an option on the table, because that’s where the majority ends.

“There are also broader pressures and attrition effects to consider.”

Virginia Roberts Giuffre claims she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times between 1999 and 2002 – in London, New York and on Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Ms Giuffre, now 38, filed a lawsuit against emotional distressed Andrew.

There has been no discussion of whether or not her case should be resolved out of court between Andrew and his team so far, it is understood.

Andrew has always strongly denied any charges against him.

A settlement means that he – and potentially other close members of the Company – will avoid going to court.

But it won’t go far in helping clear his name after the duke’s disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019.

Last week, Andrew’s sex-trafficking friend, Ghislaine Maxwell, was found guilty of helping to solicit Teenagers vulnerable to Epstein’s ex-lover’s assets for him to sexually abuse him between 1994 and 2004.

She could spend the rest of her life in prison after being was convicted of five of six counts of sex trafficking lowly Epsteinpedophile ring.

Now, she’s prepared to file a wrongdoer claim after a juror admitted to telling others about her own abuse experience to sway them.

Scotty David, 35, said some jurors struggled to believe Maxwell’s victims.

He revealed that the jury room was silent as he detailed what happened to him as a young man, telling them – like the women in the New York case – he only had can remember some of what happened.

“When I share that, they can get around the memory aspect of the sexual abuse,” he said.

A source close to the British social media site said: ‘Her team will raise this with the judge. They see this as the basis for a fallacy. Unbelievable “.

Prospective jurors were given questionnaires asking if they had ever been sexually abused.

If so, they must say if it affects their “ability to serve fairly and impartially.”

Scotty said he has “passed through” the questionnaire and will only answer honestly.

And he said he entered the trial believing that Maxwell was “innocent until proven guilty”.

But yesterday he said Maxwell was “just as guilty as Epstein”, adding: “Predator is the right word. She knows what’s going on.”

Prosecutors have asked Judge Alison Nathan to conduct an investigation into the claims.
