Predator is a prequel to Prey and puts the spotlight on the indigenous community

HOLLYWOOD– “Prey” is a new adaptation of the famous “Predator” franchise. It takes us back to the 17th century and follows the story of Nadu, an indigenous girl on a hunt. But for what? She tries to find a mysterious creature in her homeland.

Amber Midthunder feels very proud and responsible to star in a film that focuses on indigenous representation.

“I’m so proud of everything we’ve been able to achieve with it,” said Midthunder. “Jhane Myers, our producer, is an enrolled Comanche tribesman and she was there every day to make sure things were as accurate as possible.”

“This sets the bar high. Many firsts for representing native people, even our language. This is the first time you see the Comanche language in a brand new film so you can just introduce it to the world,” he told Meiner.

“I’m so excited,” Midthunder said. “From an Indigenous female lead to the first release of a dub in a native language, I feel like we’re accomplishing so many great things while still not sacrificing everything that makes a ‘Predator’ movie great.”

That means suspense, thrills and, believe it or not, a lot of stillness for an action movie. Midthunder said “not talking” was easy for her.

“The joke in my friend group is that my face is really loud! I think that really served me well in this film,” laughed Midthunder.

You can now track and stream Prey on Hulu.
