Prairie dogs cause delay at North Dakota HS baseball game

We’ve seen many strange reasons for delaying action in sports. On Friday, the Mets vs. Nationals game was postponed due to a light outage.
However, this one was a little different. A North Dakota High School baseball game between the Grafton Spoilers and the Rugby Panthers was delayed because prairie dogs ran onto the field, video obtained by KXMB-TV shows.

The prairie dogs were eventually led off the field. The Panthers won the game 4-1.
It wasn’t quite the black cat during the Mets-Cubs game in 1969 or the black cat that interrupted Giants cowboys in 2019, but add that to the list of animal-related sports oddities.
