Corrie bosses promise “drama & intrigue” in new extended episodes
Coronation Street producers have promised that the upcoming season will be filled with “drama, humor, twists and intrigue” in new hour-long time slots.
The changes were announced by ITV in January, as Coronation Street expands to hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm, while Emmerdale moves to a 7.30pm slot and clashes squarely with BBC soap EastEnders.
Speaking of the upcoming Coronation Street storylines, producer Iain MacLeod said: “It’s an exciting time for the show and these stories will propel us into the hour-long era with a bang and all the signature drama, humor, twists and intrigue that Corrie viewers are come to expect.
“We have high-quality action starring the tragic heroine Abi, leading to a life-and-death dilemma.
“We have wild romantic intrigues for Daniel, with the deliciously devious Daisy pulling out all the stops to keep her husband.
“We have the overly complex Gary, who has finally turned his life upside down and atones for his sins with Kelly, only to face a final reckoning with the ghosts of his past.
“And we have stunning high-stakes drama for Sarah, with a knife-edge showdown between Adam and his tormentor Lydia that will leave you wondering who the villain is.
“All of this in one large serving per night. What’s not to love?”
