Police say a man has been found dead in a trash compactor in New York

A man was found dead in a garbage compactor in Brooklyn early Friday, authorities said.

The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was found dead at the bottom of the slide at the Medgar Evers Apartments on Gates Avenue near Lewis Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant just after 4am, the authorities said cops with.

The investigators initially assume that the man, who has not yet been identified, entered the shaft on the first floor at his own request.
