Police are searching for a 3-year-old girl after she disappeared from a San Antonio playground

Authorities are searching for a 3-year-old girl who went missing in a San Antonio playground Monday.

Lina Sardar Khil was at a playground located in her family’s apartment complex when she disappeared after her mother abandoned her for a period of time, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a news conference Tuesday. .

When the mother returned, her daughter was gone.

The police issued a amber warning Monday, seek the public’s help in locating Lina, who was last seen Monday between 4pm and 5pm

“We spared no fortune or resources to try to find 3-year-old Lina,” McManus said.

It remains unclear whether the child was abducted or roamed, the police chief said, adding that police were gathering information from parents who were at the playground at the time the child went missing.

Based on CNN branch KSAT, the child’s family is among the Afghan refugees in San Antonio. It is unclear when the family arrived in the United States, KSAT reported.

Authorities are searching all areas of the apartment complex, including nearby trash cans and cars, due to the “suspicious nature” of the child’s disappearance, McManus explained.

Lina was last seen wearing a red dress, black jacket and black shoes, police said. She weighs 55 pounds, has brown eyes and straight brown hair with light skin tone.

McManus encourages anyone with information to contact his department’s Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660.
