Pokimane explains why she didn’t expect to win the Streamer Award via Sodapoppin

Twitch star Imane “Pokimane” Anys won the Legacy Award at the March 2022 Streamer Awards hosted by QTCinderella and Maya Higa – but she believes another nominee deserved it more.

Pokimane has long been one of the biggest names on Twitch and a hugely influential name, especially for women, in the live streaming world.

She’s helped break down barriers in a largely male-dominated industry and become one of the most watched women on the platform – so it’s fair to say her legacy is one that many would be proud of.

However, when she won the Legacy Award at the Streamer Awards, she thought Chance ‘Sodapoppin’ Morris deserved the win more.

Pokimane is one of the biggest names on Twitch.

In her post-awards vlog Pokemon is clearly blown away that she actually won the award and admits she wasn’t expecting it.

“I didn’t think I was going to win anything at all,” she said. “When I tell you I had zero expectations of winning, I really mean zero.”

She went on to say that “I literally told other people I think Soda should win,” before cutting to a clip explaining why she would choose Sodapoppin ahead of the awards and praising it the longevity of his career on Twitch.

Poki went on to say that she’s “so flattered” that voters see her the way she sees Sodapoppin, but that she feels she deserves it, considering she didn’t ask others to vote for her voices.

If this becomes an annual awards show, there’s no doubt that Soda will eventually get his flowers – and we know Pokimane will be one of the first to vote for him.
