Map reveals Omicron hotspots as Covid cases rise in 226 regions

THIS maps reveal the prevalence of Omicron where you live and the 226 areas where the Covid case rate is increasing.

Omicron variants now account for 34% of cases across the UK and are driving a tidal wave of infections, with Highest Covid cases ever reported yesterday.

Of the 377 local areas in the UK, 226 (60%) have seen weekly price increases, 149 (40%) have declined and two are unchanged.

South Northamptonshire has the highest rate in the UK, with 917 new cases per 100,000 people a week.

Reigate and Banstead in Surrey came in second, with 891 cases per 100,000, while the Orkney Islands, Scotland, came last with 103 cases.

However, the five regions with the biggest weekly gains were all in London, with the top region being Southwark, which increased from 463 to 818 per 100,000.
