Plane crashes in Lake Livingston in response to wildfires in Polk County, Texas A&M Forest Service

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRK) — A pilot whose plane crashed while helping with Polk County wildfires was rescued and treated.

The video above is the live stream from ABC13.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Onalaska off Highway 287.

According to Texas A&M Forest Service, the single engine air tanker, sank in Lake Livingston while making waterdrops on wildfire. The pilot was quickly rescued and brought to shore.

“Our thoughts are with the pilot, his family and friends and all employees involved,” said the forest service on Facebook.

It is unclear what caused the plane to crash.
