Peter Dinklage Slams ‘Snow White’ Movie Coming Out to Depict ‘Reverse Tears’ – NBC10 Philadelphia

“Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage calling for Disney’s live-action “Snow White” Remake.

The 52-year-old actor recently appeared on “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, where he opens up about his thoughts on the upcoming film, of which production will begin later this year.

Last June, Disney confirmed with E! News that “West Side Story” actress Rachel Zegler will play a major role.

“There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on,” Dinklage said on the January 24 episode. “Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a bit surprised that they were so proud to have cast a female. Latina cast as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.” Take a step back and look back at what you were doing there. That makes no sense to me. ”

Dinklage continued, “You’re progressing in a way, but then you’re still creating the back story of seven dwarves living in a cave together, what are you doing? me? I guess I’m not big enough.”

“I don’t know which studio it is, but they’re very proud of it,” he added. “All love and respect to the actress and everyone who thinks they did the right thing. But I was just like, ‘what are you doing?'”

A Disney spokesperson responded to Dinklage’s words in a statement for TODAY on Tuesday, noted that the company consulted with members of the dwarven community in preparation for the film.

“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original cartoon, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have consulted with members of the dwarven community,” written notice. “We look forward to sharing more as the film enters production after a long period of development.”

Despite his assessment, Dinklage also explained that he would be open to the film if it had a more modern setting, different from the 1937 original.

“What if you told the story of Snow White with the most interesting, exciting, or ongoing things about it?” he added. “Let’s do it…all in.”

In addition to starting production on a new “Snow White” film this year, it has also been confirmed that “(500) Days of Summer” director Marc Webb will direct the film. Peter Dinklage Slams ‘Snow White’ Movie Coming Out to Depict ‘Reverse Tears’ – NBC10 Philadelphia
