The Fresh Prince is being debunked and turned upside down in Peacock’s dramatic new re-imagining, Bel-Air, will premiere on Super Bowl Sunday on February 13.
“You get a shot at a second chance,” reads the caption in the first full trailer for the upcoming series. The clip introduces the Banks family with a new look of Will (Jabari Banks) arrives at Bel-Air and finds that a life of luxury isn’t all it has to be.
Through the trailer, it’s clear that this upcoming reboot will be far more formidable than the popular 1990s sitcom on which it was based. The clips highlight storylines involving racism, police brutality, and gang violence, alongside a tense and expected family plot.
The series is executive produced by Will Smith and inspired by Morgan Cooper 2019 trailer goes viral reimagined the iconic ’90s sitcom. Cooper serves as the series’ director, co-writer, and executive producer, alongside hosts TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson.
Bel-Air follows Will’s intricate journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the controlled mansions of Bel-Air. As his two worlds begin to collide, Will battles the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and prejudices of a world far different from the only world. he used to know.
In addition to New Banks, the series also stars Adrian Holmes (V Wars) as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman (Atlanta) as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan (Run Hide Fight) as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones (Let it shine) as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) like Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola (The most dangerous game) as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones (Snow) as Jazz and Simone Joy Jones (Chair) as Lisa.
“Basically, Bel-Air is an era story that celebrates the strength and love of the Black family,” Brady and Newson said. “We stayed true to the original premise of the legacy series – Will’s life was turned upside down after he was forced to leave West Philly and land in Bel-Air with his mansions and wealth. it is, however, our new series that brings Will and the Banking Family out into the world as we know it now. ”
The first three episodes will drop on February 13 with new episodes being released weekly.
