Top US doctor Paul Farmer, who founded Partners In Health to bring medical care to poorer countries, has died aged 62.

The Harvard professor’s death was announced by Partners in Health on Monday.

“Partners In Health announces that its founder, Dr Paul Farmer, passed away unexpectedly today in his sleep while in Rwanda,” the health nonprofit tweeted.

“Dr. Farmer is 62 years old. He is survived by his wife, Didi Bertrand Farmer, and their three children.”
