Overwatch players want old archive enemy skins to save the “Travesty” Remix Event

Overwatch’s all-new “Remix” skins have largely failed to wow the game’s community, with many lamenting that a number of pre-existing enemy Archives skins will never be available for their favorite heroes.

As of 2022, Overwatch fans can no longer look forward to the game’s classic schedule of events. Gone are the days of Summer Games, Halloween terror and more: enter Remix, a series of limited-time celebrations that see old skins return to the fray with a few tweaks.

Though volume one of the celebrations reinvents skins like Witch Mercy and Cultist Zenyatta in pearly white, Blizzard’s shakeup hasn’t won over many in the game’s community, who have branded them “lazy” after a somewhat disappointing Lunar New Year.

As we wrap up the Archives Season, players are reminded of some awesome looking enemy skins that many wished to see turned into cosmetics for their favorite heroes and heroines.

Overwatch players want archive enemy skins

As any OG Overwatch player knows, Archives allowed you to relive some of the most iconic moments in Overwatch history by giving you access to a variety of mini-missions with their own respective cutscenes and lore.

During the Retribution game mode, players were tasked with disrupting Talon’s operations by controlling the original Blackwatch Special Ops team. Our merry band of misfits will encounter a variety of enemies, each with their own specialization.

Divided into Assassin, Enforcer, Heavy Assaulter, Sniper and Trooper, the characters were designed for Tracer, Roadhog, Widowmaker and Soldier 76. Given their unique armor and Talon-inspired gear, a player has them asked the question: Why didn’t Blizzard ever make skins out of these designs?

While many are suggesting that Ana should get the sniper skin instead of her cold-blooded opponent and Sombra the Assassin skin, it’s clear that fans would have loved to see these enemy skins become playable cosmetics.

“Not giving the characters a travesty of the times with these skins,” wrote one fan, while another commented, “They should at least remix the designs here.”

Whether or not we’ll ever bring these outfits into the game as new looks for our heroes in Overwatch 2 remains to be seen, but either way it’s pretty clear they won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
