The Overwatch 2 beta is well underway, and with players curious as to when they can get their hands on the full game, an upcoming book has caught their interest.
The first Overwatch 2 beta generated a lot of buzz, with players expressing multiple opinions about the sequel to Blizzard’s first hero shooter (you can read our own impressions of it here).
With more betas still on the way, however, it’s unclear when Blizzard will actually release the sequel — and if the company even has a window in mind.
On May 3rd, gamers turned their attention to an upcoming book about the new hero, Sojourn, and believe it might be related to the game’s release (or at least something special happening in the game’s universe).
Is the upcoming Sojourn book teasing the Overwatch 2 release?
“I’m hoping the plan is to have the full PvP release around the OWL playoffs, which are happening in early November. Then PvE release at the beginning of the 2023 season? Hmm,” wrote one.
“[The devs] said that this year there will be the most legendary cosmetics, not counting the remix events. Something big has to happen this year,” stressed another.
“I think we’ll see a release in late September or early October, both because of this book and their canceled event blog post,” one Redditor surmised.
The book itself, simply titled Overwatch: Sojourn, is an origin story about OW2’s first new hero and is set before the events of the upcoming sequel.
Either way, we’ll have to see what Blizzard has in store for the coming months as Overwatch 2 evolves and more heroes and features are added over time.
