Oscar nominations will be announced today, with 10 films announced as Best Picture nominees | Prediction for 2022, how to watch it live

LOS ANGELES – The Oscar nominations are just hours away, and this year a big change takes effect to the coveted Best Picture category.

The nominations for the 94th Annual Academy Awards, which airs March 27 on ABC, will be revealed this morning.

Cast Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross will announce nominations in all 23 Academy Award categories during a live presentation starting at 8:18 a.m. ET / 5:18 a.m. PT. Watch the nominations live on this website or through our streaming apps on Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku.

Big change of 2022: There will be 10 films announced as Best Picture nominees. Over the past decade, there have been 5 to 10 candidates who have slipped. Most years have eight or nine.

Of the 276 eligible films, several have scored significant nominations with other voting bodies and are now likely contenders in the Oscars race.

“Belfast”, “Dune”, “Licorice Pizza”, “The Power of the Dog” and “West Side Story” were all nominated for top awards both years this year. Manufacturers Association Award and Board of Directors Award.

Last year’s box office hits, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “No Time to Die,” didn’t pull through, but there could be a Tuesday morning surprise.

The Screen Actors Guilds Awards also rank highly among the trusted Oscars tickers. “Belfast,” “CODA,” “Don’t Look Up,” “House of Gucci” and “King Richard” were nominated for the group’s highest award, best band.

Will Smith’s performance of “King Richard” – as the father of tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williams – shines in the spotlight of the season. He’s received lead role nods from the SAG and British Academy Film Awards along with a win at the 2022 Golden Globe Awards.

SAG’s other nominations for best actor are: Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Power of the Dog”), Denzel Washington (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”), Andrew Garfield (“Tick, Tick… Boom”) !”) and Javier Bardem (“Being a Ricardian”). SAG Awards Best Female Lead Character: Lady Gaga (“House of Gucci”), Jessica Chastain (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”), Olivia Colman (“The Lost Daughter”), Nicole Kidman (“Being”) the Ricardos”) and Jennifer Hudson (“Respect”).

Also worth noting: “Dune” and “The Power Of The Dog” lead nominations for this year’s BAFTA, and “West Side Story” has won several major awards at the Globes.

The 94th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 27 and will be televised live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The Dolby Theater Return Ceremony in Hollywood and there will be a presenter at the helm for the first time since 2018.
