Oklahoma City fire officials say December is the peak month for candle fires

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City Fire Department officials warn that December is the peak month for candle fires.

Candle fires are mainly caused by candles being too close to flammable objects.

Fire officials ask community members to keep candles at least one foot away from other combustibles, and to make sure they extinguish the candle before leaving the house or going to bed.
