NYU Langone Health Receives Awards for Patient Care

NYU Langone Health was crowned the top spot for patient care by more than 100 academic medical centers across the country, the hospital announced Thursday.

The New York Hospital received the Vicient, Inc. award on Wednesday when it accepted the Bernard A. Birnbaum Quality Leadership Award for superior patient care and also received the Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Award for outstanding outpatient care.

Vicient is the largest healthcare performance improvement organization in the United States and this year included 107 academic medical centers in its patient care rankings. About 97% of all academic medical centers are part of the organization.

dr NYU Langone CEO Robert Grossman praised the appointments.

“Excellent standards of quality and safety are hallmarks of our facility and reflect a culture committed to excellence and the best outcomes for our patients, no matter where in our system they are treated,” said Grossman, who is also Dean of NYU Grossman School is medicine, in a statement.

“No other healthcare system in the country has our combined top quality and safety rankings from respected judges, including this recent Vicient leadership designation.”

The Birnbaum Prize considers six categories: safety, mortality, efficacy, efficiency, patient focus and equity.

The Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Award honors NYU Langone as the best medical practice out of 55 networks. The healthcare system has been a frontrunner in outpatient care since the award was created, the hospital said.

Vicient considers five areas for this award including access to care, quality, efficiency, continuity of care and equity.

NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island were among the top 10 in the Birnbaum Quality Leadership Ranking of Specialized Medical Centers for Complex Care.
