NYC dad Shia Hersch Glick seriously injured children in attack in Jerusalem

A Brooklyn father was seriously injured on Sunday trying to protect his family from a Palestinian terrorist in Jerusalem, while a pregnant neighborhood woman who was also shot in the attack required an emergency C-section.

The badly injured patriarch, Shia Hersch Glick of Williamsburg, “was shot in the neck while protecting his wife and children,” Senator Chuck Schumer said at an independent news conference in New York City.

Glick — “cancer survivor loved by everyone in the community” — is in critical condition on a ventilator but is expected to survive, Schumer said. According to local Israeli hospital officials, the man’s son suffered minor injuries when he was shot in the right arm.

Meanwhile, the injured unnamed 35-year-old mother-to-be underwent an emergency C-section after being shot in the abdomen, Dr. Alon Schwartz of Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center told i24 News.

“The baby is being intubated in the NICU — ventilated and intubated and also in serious condition,” Schwartz said.

A fifth American — Menachem Palace, 22, also from Brooklyn — was among the eight shot dead, the Times of Israel reported.

The group was on a bus going to a religious site then known as David’s Tomb.

“I looked to the right, by the window I was sitting next to, and I saw that it was completely smashed. I ducked down quickly and saw blood on my shoulder,” Palace said.

“Because of the adrenaline, I didn’t even notice that a bullet had gone into my shoulder.”

Brother Elazar and Dovi were among the gunshot victims but are expected to survive.

Two Israeli brothers, identified by the news media as Elazar, 19, and Dovi, 16, were also among those shot. The siblings reportedly reunited hours later at the hospital.

“Both my brothers were together last night waiting for the bus,” her older brother Yair told Channel 13, according to the Times of Israel.

“Elazar was helping a woman get on the bus and my 16.5-year-old brother Dovi was still at the bus stop when the shooting started,” Yair said.

“Dovi called himself and told it [the family] that they were both hit by a bullet, that he was conscious and that he was fine. That calmed us down.”

The gunman – 26-year-old Amir Sidawi from east Jerusalem – later on Sunday took a taxi to the police station and surrendered himself to police, the report said.

Cabbie Shalom Harush said he had no idea at the time that he was driving a suspected terrorist.

“It’s not a good feeling,” he told Walla News.
