A straphanger whipped out his wallet when a beggar asked him for a dollar at a Manhattan subway station on Wednesday – only to be punched in the face and the wallet stolen, cops said.

The 37-year-old victim was near the turnstile of the 42 Street-Bryant Park subway station around 11:30 a.m. when the beggar asked for the money, police officers said.

The man, who was believed to be homeless, then decorated him, took the wallet and fled on a southbound express train, police officers said.

“The beggar asked for a dollar,” a police spokesman said. “He was hit in the face.”

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment, police said. There were no arrests.
