An 11-year-old girl was monitored from school before being sexually assaulted in the park.
The victim was kissed by a man who grabbed her wrist and said he had a knife while ‘Scary challenge in north London.
The Metropolitan Police released an image of a man they wish to identify following the incident on September 30.
The child was left alone with a man in his 30s or 40s, as she waited at a bus stop at the Sussex Ring in North Finchley.
He tried to ask her about bus routes before trying to convince her to go to the park around 4pm.
When she refused, he grabbed her wrist and began to drag her into the park, telling her he had a knife.
The attacker then led her down the canal and stole her phone behind a tree. He grabbed her wrist and kissed her before leaving the area.
The man is described as having pale white skin, brown eyes, and messy shoulder-length hair. He wears blue jeans and black shoes.
Detective Constable Chris Finnegan from Wembley-based North West Command said: ‘This was a terrifying attack on a young girl who was so brave to come forward.
‘I stress that sexual assaults like this continue to be rare, but in the cases where they do occur, we remain dedicated to supporting victims and identifying and prosecuting those responsible.
‘We encourage anyone who is a victim of a sex crime or sees a crime in progress to contact police so we can track down the perpetrator.’
