Nipsey Hussle’s wife reacts to Kendrick Lamar’s tribute to the late artist in new video

Nipsey Hussle’s wife Lauren London has praised Kendrick Lamar’s new music video, in which he pays tribute to her late husband.

Following the video’s release, London shared the video on her Instagram story with a two-word caption: “Powerful Art.”

Lamar released his new track “The Heart Part 5” days before the release of his new album.

It was released alongside a music video directed by Dave Free and Lamar, in which the rapper’s face morphs into several deepfakes, including likenesses of OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West and Hussle.

Hussle, who was fatally shot outside his Los Angeles store in 2019, is the last person Lamar portrays in the video, with the final stanza written from his perspective.

“I wake up this morning with more heart to give you,” Lamar raps. “When I bleed through the speakers, feel my presence. For my brother, for my children, I’m in heaven. For my mother, for my sister, I’m in heaven. For my father, for my wife, I’m serious, this is heaven. To my friends, make sure you count them blessed. To my fans, make sure you invest them.

Lamar then raps a message for “the killer who hastened my death,” saying from Hussle’s perspective that his killer is forgiven, but his “soul is in question.”

“I saw the pain in your pupil when the trigger was pulled,” he raps. “And though you made me cruel, I was certainly relieved / I fulfilled my mission, wasn’t ready to go / But my days fulfilled, my Maker was satisfied.”

In his verse, Lamar also refers to Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, also known as Blacc Sam.

“And Sam, I’m gonna take care of you / make sure my kids see all my interviews / make you live all the dreams we make,” he raps. “Keep the genius in your brain moving / And in my neighborhood, let good prevail / Make sure the babies and their leaders get out of jail / Seek redemption when troubles become real.

“Cause you can’t keep the world until you help yourself / And I can’t blame the hood the day I was killed / You all had to see it, that’s the only way to feel / And though my physical t reap the benefits / The energy that goes on is still emitting. I want you.”

Lamar’s new album Mr. Morale and the big stepperswill be released on Friday, May 13th.
