Sidney Crosby hit the ball from just outside the fold with 2:14 remaining in the third inning on Sunday to help the Pittsburgh Penguins win 3-2 over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The winning goal survived a challenge Columbus claimed that goalkeeper Elvis Merzlikins had interfered.

Evgeni Malkin added a goal and an assist, Chad Ruhwedel also scored and Bryan Rust provided two assists for the Penguins, who have won two in a row. Pittsburgh goalkeeper Casey DeSmith made 32 saves.

Jack Roslovic had a goal and an assist and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored for the Blue Jackets, who lost for the second time in a row.

Kyle Connor scored two goals in the third half to help Winnipeg get to the rally against Arizona.

Evgeny Svechnikov had one goal and one assist for the Jets, who had lost four games in a row and led 3-2 in the third round. Eric Comrie made 26 saves.

Jakob Chychrun, Barrett Hayton and Nick Ritchie each have a goal and an assist for the Coyotes, who have won two-thirds of the game. Scott Wedgewood made 33 saves.

Canucks 5, Rangers 2

Thatcher Demko made 31 saves as Vancouver took a four-goal lead and beat New York in the opening game of the four-game road trip.

Tanner Pearson and Tyler Myers scored in the first period thanks to goals from former Ranger JT Miller. Juho Lammikko also scored and Matthew Highmore scored a power play late in the second half.

Alexis Lafreniere and Ryan Strome scored a 4:10 margin in the third half as Rangers fell 5-2-1 in their past eight games and 9-2-2 in their past 13 home games.
