NH man serving with Vermont National Guard returns home before vacation

Several members of the Vermont National Guard were returning home for the holidays, arriving at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on Thursday night. It was a happy homecoming for some families at the airport, including a New Hampshire man reuniting with his wife and two young children after being away from home for nearly a year. “God, I just want to cry. I miss him so much,” says Kimberly Allen of Bradford, whose husband, Sgt. Christopher Allen, first class, returns from a 305-day absence, with Hris on security duties in the Middle East. His son, Lochlan, was just 7 months old when he left and on Thursday, Lochlan came to Daddy for the first time. “That’s great. I’ve watched some videos and FaceTime videos on my phone, but it certainly doesn’t look like the real thing,” said Chris Allen. They said the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic had added stress to their separation. Claremont police will have to wait a bit longer to see Chris as he said he plans to take a few weeks off and take a family vacation before returning to work.
