It has also helped Chelsea generate significant sums of money from sales to those who fail the grade.

Key to this success was Fraser, Bath’s assistant and head of youth recruitment.

Sources claim Newcastle’s interest in the pair is being discussed among agents and academy staff across the Premier League.

Chelsea are considered vulnerable because of the sanctions against the current owner Roman Abramovich prevent the club from signing new deals with existing players and staff, let alone new recruits.

Newcastle haven’t had it all their way with Ashworth.

As it stands, the former Technical Director of the Football Association can only join the club after the summer transfer window.
