Newcastle and West Ham are keen on ex-Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi but Union Berlin are demanding a whopping £25m transfer fee

NEWCASTLE and West Ham are interested in Union Berlin’s high-flying striker Taiwo Awoniyi this summer.

Awoniyi joined Liverpool in 2015 but never made the first team, instead having SEVEN loans in Belgium and Holland.

And having shone in the last of those temporary stints for Berlin, he’s only gotten better since making that move permanent.

Awoniyi’s loan form helped the Germans qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League as they finished seventh in just their second season in the top flight.

And they maintain that position this season, with Awoniyi’s goals being crucial as they are only the 11th top scorer in the Bundesliga.

In the meantime, Newcastle are said to be testing Kalvin Phillips’ loyalty to Leeds by offering him a staggering pay rise.
