New York judge accused of making homophobic, racist remarks

A New York judge is said to have made vile, bigoted remarks during her work – including saying homosexuality is an “abomination”, claiming Hispanics have “sneaky traits” and accusing her peers of sleeping their way to the top, new sources say court records.

Brooklyn Surrogate Court Judge Harriet Thompson was suspended on pay in December 2021 after the state courts inspector general “substantiated” the misconduct charges against her, according to the filing.

IG noted that Thompson labeled four other judges as “gay racist f—-ts” who were “all f—kings together” and “tried to ruin and get me,” according to the Office of Court Administration According to the documents submitted, it is attempting to uphold the suspension.

“I hate these gay white men … to be gay is an anathema to humanity,” said Thompson, who was elected to a 14-year term in 2018, allegedly over other judges.

The OCA’s court filings contain dozens of other homophobic, racist, or otherwise inappropriate and offensive comments Thompson allegedly made before she was benched by New York City Chief Administrative Officer Lawrence Marks.

“A lot of judges are jealous of me because I’m smart, while these other judges had to sleep with other people and fuck them to get where they are,” Thompson said in the court filing.

Thompson, who earned $210,900 in 2021, according to SeeThroughNY, also reportedly said she didn’t like Hispanics and accused them of being liars.

“I don’t like Hispanics. They have a fraudulent quality that dates back to Biblical times,” the court filings say.

The OCA claimed that Thompson said “that whenever she has a case involving a litigant with a Hispanic-sounding name, she ‘assumed that the litigant was a liar.'”

She was also accused of giving court officials demeaning looks, repeatedly swearing and using racist and anti-gay slurs.

Horrific comments included once saying a gay judge is “fat now from all the evil he does” and criticizing a black judge for having blonde hair, the OCA claimed.

She also reportedly called a black judge “a house n—-r … and a puppet for the white man.”

Thompson, who previously served as a civil judge for a 10-year term beginning in 2011, reportedly once said that a female court clerk “is a prostitute… I think her boyfriend is pimping her.”

She filed a lawsuit in April, arguing that Marks and OCA wrongly suspended her — without giving her a chance to defend herself.

Thompson also claimed that false allegations were leveled against her by a disgruntled court clerk whom she had suspended from her cases for alleged misconduct.

In December, IG referred Thompson’s case to New York’s Commission on Judicial Conduct — the body responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct against judges and making disciplinary recommendations once their investigations are complete. The CJC’s investigations are confidential.

But since the CJC’s investigations can take at least two years, Marks determined that wouldn’t be appropriate [Thompson] to continue to direct judicial affairs for the duration of the Commission’s investigations,” the court documents said.

Thompson’s attorney Matthew Berman told The Post: “The judge denies all allegations made against her.”

Court spokesman Lucian Chalfen told The Post: “Our position is clearly stated in our files. Any further comment will be dealt with in court.” New York judge accused of making homophobic, racist remarks
