Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Israel Thomas Nides presented a diplomatic credential to the president of the State of Israel.

“My agenda as ambassador will first and foremost be to reinforce our unwavering and unwavering commitment to the defense of Israel,” Nides said.

During the ceremony in Jerusalem on Sunday, the two officials discussed the risks to regional stability posed by Iran and its nuclear aspirations. Nides said the US will add an Iron Dome missile defense system and will cooperate with Israeli security forces.

During their meeting, the Israeli president also warned against reinstating the nuclear deal with Iran.

“We are closely following the recent negotiations by the international community with Iran,” President Isaac Herzog said. “Israel is keeping all options on the table and it must be said that if the international community does not take a strong stance on this issue, Israel will. Israel will defend itself.”

Meanwhile, the Biden administration is pressing ahead with indirect talks with Iran in Vienna to restore the failed 2015 nuclear deal, despite Israel’s objections.
