New season of ‘American Idol’: Watch trailer for season 20, premiering February 27, 2022

LOS ANGELES – Calling all “American Idol” fans! We now have our first look at the show’s upcoming landmark 20th season.

ABC announced the trailer for the new season on Wednesday as part of the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. It looks back at the success of past contestants Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Gabby Barrett before previewing heartwarming moments from auditions around the country in the upcoming season. Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will all return for the new season, as will host producer Ryan Seacrest. This is the group’s fifth season together since the show returned on ABC in 2018.
