The millionaire from Sydney was on a small board beside the yacht when it capsized in the waves, sending him under.

It is understood that he cannot be resurrected after the accident, Sydney’s Daily Telegraph report.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Balnaves, whom he married in 1971, and his children, son Hamish and daughters Alexandra and Victoria.

He has produced a variety of shows, including Big Brother, Bananas in Pajamas, Water Rats, and McLeod’s Dau Daughter.

The millionaire also had a near-fatal boating accident on the Gold Coast in 2002, which changed his outlook on life.

At that point he said, “How many more houses do I need? Do I want a jet? Do I want another yacht? Not really.

There will come a time when those things don’t mean much to you anymore. “

He went on to become a prominent philanthropist, with his Balnaves Foundation having raised around £10 million.

Balnaves left school in Adelaide at the age of 15 and went on to develop his fortune in the media sector.

He served as the managing director of the Australian division of the famous animation production company Hanna-Barbera.

Balnaves went on to run Southern Star Television and became Endemol Shine Australia.

The company has produced shows including Water Rats, Joh’s Jury, Blue Murder, and McLeod’s Dau Daughter. Neil Balnaves dead – Mogul who put Big Brother & Bananas in pajamas on TV has died in a freak boat crash aged 77
