NC woman abducted by 51-year-old man found by FBI, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, LA Police

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — A 19-year-old Cumberland County woman who has been missing for nearly two months was found Monday by the FBI, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Police Department.
Kaitlin Marie Benjamin-Olsen was placed in protective custody by the FBI in New Orleans on Monday, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
Benjamin-Olsen has been missing since February 5, but no law enforcement agency said where or how she was abducted.
Police arrested Duncan Thomas Sherrington, 51, a man officials said traveled with Kaitlin.
The FBI said Sherrington used many different names, including Thomas Johnson and “Chris,” to help the two evade law enforcement, a press release said.
The press release said the FBI became involved in the case when it was discovered that Sherrington had left North Carolina with Benjamin-Olsen. The FBI is currently investigating this case further.
Eventually, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Benjamin-Olsen is safe and on his way home to be reunited with her family.
