A US Navy sailor is said to have gunned down his wife’s lover after catching the couple having sex at their Virginia home, court documents show.

Tyler Lamar Jenkins, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Timothy Paul Talley III, 28, Friday at the couple’s Virginia Beach home. The police said in a statement.

Talley, from California, was hit multiple times during the “domestic shooting” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jenkins was taken into custody at his home without incident, police officers said.

Jenkins’ wife told police he entered a room where she was “engaging in a sexual act” with Talley and prompted her husband to open fire on her boyfriend, court documents obtained from the Virginian Pilot Show.

“What am I doing wrong?” Jenkins questioned at the scene after telling police that someone had sex with his wife at their home, according to court records.

Jenkins then admitted to shooting Talley three times. The gun he used to kill his wife’s lover was found inside the house, police said. Investigators did not disclose the relationship between the men in Saturday’s statement.

Jenkins, who was charged Monday, has been with the US Navy since 2014, the Virginian pilot reported. A message seeking additional comments from a Navy spokesman was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Jenkins remains detained without bond, online records show. He has reportedly been denied a public defender due to his income and is due to appear in court on May 12.

Attempts to reach Talley’s relatives Tuesday were unsuccessful.
