Natalie Portman Said She Should “Get As Big As Possible” For ‘Thor 4’

Marvel fans were shocked to see Natalie Portman set up for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.
The 41-year-old wields the magical hammer Mjölnir and embodies the superhero Mighty Thor for the fourth installment in the series.
Portman recently revealed that the production told her to put on weight for the transformative role.
“On ‘Black Swan’ I was asked to be as small as possible,” the Oscar winner told Variety. “Here I was asked to grow as tall as possible. That is a great challenge – and also a great attitude as a woman.”
The Israeli-born starlet worked with a personal trainer for more than 10 months prior to and during filming as of Fall 2020 to improve her physique.
The Garden State actress remodeled her shoulders and arms and turned them into muscles.

“To have that reaction and be considered big, you’re like, ‘Oh, it must be so different, going through the world like that,'” she said.
Portman added, “When you’re little — and I think too, because I started when I was a kid — I often feel young or little or like a patting person on the head. And that’s why I present myself like this.”
“I mean, it’s always amazing to see yourself in a Marvel movie, even if just for a split second, because you’re in places you’ve never been before,” she told the outlet. “It’s like seeing photos of a vacation you never took, or something.”

She also noted that the poor reviews for 2013’s Thor: The Dark World didn’t upset her.
“I mean, I had it with ‘The Professional,’ too,” the mother-of-two revealed of her 1994 film debut. “It was critically slaughtered, and now even though I’ve been in Marvel and Star Wars movies, it is the most important thing people approach me about.
“That and ‘Star Wars’ are two examples of things that when they came out I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is a disaster.’ And then 20 years later – actually 30 years later for ‘The Professional’ – it’s popular,” the Golden Globe winner continued.
Portman played Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy from 1999 to 2005.
Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Tessa Thompson and director Taika Waititi also star in the action-packed Thor: Love and Thunder, which premieres in theaters July 8.
