The first seaman was found unresponsive on the aircraft carrier last Friday. The other two were found on April 9th and 10th at a location outside the base.

“While these incidents are still being investigated, there is no early indication that there is a connection between these tragic events,” said Commander Reann Mommsen, a Navy spokeswoman.

The Navy did not specify the causes of death for the sailors. However, a special psychiatric rapid response team was brought on board.

These teams are deployed to provide short-term mental health assistance following a traumatic event such as a bereavement.

The seaman found on April 9 was identified as Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp. The sailor found April 10 was Natasha Huffman, Indoor Communications Electrician, 3rd Class.

The third sailor found on Friday has yet to be identified by the Navy.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends and shipmates of our sailors,” Mommsen said.

The USS George Washington is currently in Newport News, Virginia undergoing a refeuling and complex overhaul.

The ship has been with Newport News since August 2017.
