The couple – who have been at their Armstrong Road home for four years – said while their neighbors were building the loft extension and holly since July, they were unable to open the windows because ” Dust flies everywhere.”

Rod, 56 years old, told NottinghamshireLive: “It’s been a nightmare for months now between the extension itself and the mess of it being built.

“It’s ridiculous, it’s like a brand new bungalow on the roof above our two. And the building they built is more like a double garage.

“We used to bask in the sun all day in the garden and we would sit out there with the family, now the garden will be planted in the summer.

“The orange paneling doesn’t match the rest of the houses here – it just doesn’t look right.”

Rod, who works in construction, said he and his wife, 46, no longer speak to their neighbors and feel compelled to move elsewhere.

“We’re getting ready to move house, it’s driving us crazy,” he added.

“I don’t know when it’ll be finished. I just hope it doesn’t bring down our home prices – I’d love to know how they continue to approve the plan.

“The reason we moved to this house in the first place was because the garden was lovely and we socialized a lot with our family there and all the sunlight we used to have in it was gone.

“But nobody seemed to really get that concern so it went ahead.”

It happened after a retired businessman got angry with his neighbors by expanding his house into a church graveyard.

Charles Ryan, 73, demolished and rebuilt the back wall along with some godstones while renovating his house – but has since been fined £100,000 after being ordered to tear it down .

Locals in the village of Quebec, County Durham, have expressed outrage at the former concrete company owner’s construction work, which they say “insults” the historic St John the Baptist Church cemetery. My neighbor built a nightmare extension… it’s ridiculous that we want to move
