My mother-in-law wants my child to call her “mommy”, there’s no way that’s possible, but my husband is angry with me

Becoming a parent is supposed to be a blissful time.

But when you have a mother-in-law from hell, the experience can be far from perfect.

this mom net The user recently shared what her mother-in-law did to interfere with her pregnancy.

“My partner’s mother wants the baby to call her ‘Mom.’

“She already has other grandchildren doing what makes her feel entitled to want it,” the mom-to-be shared.

While her partner tried to mend the situation by claiming the pronunciation was slightly different, the new mom didn’t have any of it.

Her husband says he called his grandmother “Mama” and his great-grandmother “Great-Mama”.

“He’s a mama’s boy and I feel bad about breaking with family tradition, but I really don’t feel comfortable with it,” added the Mumset user.

Despite the mother’s hatred of the name, her mother-in-law insisted they stick to the tradition.

Other parents couldn’t believe how unreasonable their husband’s family was.

One said: “They can make it clear that it’s not up to the discussion what they want. Your child, YOUR choice!”

Others didn’t think the choice of name was so bad.

“I think the grandmother decides what to call her. Unless it’s mom (which is weird).”

Another added: “I would think carefully before having a baby with this man and his family if he puts his mother first it will be forever.”
