MAX VERSTAPPEN’s father claims he has no respect for Lewis Hamilton as a man.
Heat is rising in Saudi Arabia this weekend with the 24-year-old Dutchman knowing he could end the day as a Formula One world champion.
And their rivalry isn’t just limited to the track.
Jos Verstappen, himself a former F1 driver, beat the champion seven times and dominate.
He told Daily mail: “I never spoke to Lewis.
“He doesn’t need to talk to me. I’m nothing to him. I respect him as a driver, but the rest of us…nothing.
“Max and Lewis only spoke on the podium, very little.
“When I see Max with the other drivers, I think they’ve got on really well. But not with Lewis. Lewis is in his own world.

“I did F1 – versus Max I haven’t been anywhere – but I speak to a number of drivers and they are all super friendly, or just say hi or whatever.
“We fly together many times, always with the same group of drivers, and we have a lot of fun.
“But there are ‘some’ drivers who don’t look at you who look at the ground.”
Verstappen Sr, a former teammate of another great Michael Schumacher, added: “Michael and I had a good relationship.
“Lewis do it his own way, which you can’t say is wrong because he won a lot. Yes, he had teammates, but he was in the right environment.
“He made the right decision to go Mercedes and had the fastest car in a long time. But he’s good, for sure. I respect him as a driver. The rest.. .
“What is Max.
“Max sees it as a case of doing a job as a sportsman and leaving it at that. Everyone does it their way and that’s Max’s way.”
I don’t like his attitude… I don’t like the way he behaves at Silverstone
Jos Verstappen on Toto Wolff
Verstappen and Hamilton crashed at Silverstone and Monza this season in the two most important moments of this season glamorous title race.
Prior to that, a 180mph crash saw the Red Bull star hit the wall of a tire and require a hospital check-up.
But that incident also marked the end of the friendly relationship between Jos and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
He added: “It is no more.
“I don’t like his attitude. I don’t like the way he behaves, starting with Silverstone.
“One of the riders was hospitalized and they were on the podium celebrating as if they had won the world championship.
“I don’t think Toto is like that but I did know about another Wolff. We didn’t have any contact from him, any texts or anything.
“And to think he talked us into the new year – I’m not saying he was trying to bring Max in at that stage, but let’s just say we had a good relationship before Silverstone. “
