Mother-in-law secretly canceled the wedding behind our back

Whether they’re overly protective or outspoken, we’ve all heard horror stories about mother-in-law from hell.

But one man, from the US, was exposed when he discovered his wife’s mother had canceled the wedding date behind their backs.

Taken to Reddithe explained that after questioning his girlfriend of 3 years, her parents offered them $20,000 for their big day or similar amount for a house.

He noted that because they had saved up to buy a house, they opted for a wedding fund.

However, after scheduling their wedding for July 2020, he claims his mother-in-law started a “wedding frenzy” and booked things they didn’t ask for without consulting them first.

He added that they became even more “irritated” when she started doing things they had planned together – including tasting food and choosing vendors.

Then, to their surprise, she hit them with a list of payments for alcohol and a ride totaling $3,600, of which they knew nothing.

He went on to explain that in April 2020, after the Covid-19 pandemic hit, he and his fiancée decided to postpone the wedding to next year.

Eager to be husband and wife, they left and got married, but they have planned a solemn wedding for July this year to celebrate with family and friends.

“My parents asked me if our wedding could be canceled again. I told them it wasn’t possible and if it was, I wouldn’t try again,” he explained.

He went on to say that later that week when his mother-in-law came over for dinner, he repeated what he had told his biological mother.

“I also mentioned that I don’t plan to wear a mask because it’s outside,” he continued.

He went on to explain that his wife chose to get married again in July 2022 – a time when they have been married for two years.
