More than 100 Afghans resettled in Colorado thanks to Team Rubicon

DENVER (KDVR) – The mission to help their Afghan allies continues for a group of volunteers from Team Rubicon.

Translators or anyone supporting US troops in that country still had to endure a life-or-death situation after the Taliban took over.

The Rubicon team says they’ve helped hundreds of people escape that country and resettle, right here in Colorado.

“From last August to December, we supported over 120 moves,” said Jordan Daniel, administrator of Team Rubicon in Denver.

With the help of volunteers from Team Rubicon, those families are escaping the Taliban and starting new lives in Colorado.

Daniel said: “We are receiving a lot of donated household items, furniture, appliances, basic household items.

Daniel served in Afghanistan while he was in the Navy and continues to serve the Afghans. He said translators he knew had been killed over the years.

“So even though the people who directly supported our service members didn’t survive, we were able to get their families out,” Daniel said.

So why did they settle in Colorado?

“Mainly because they already have some families in the state,” Daniel said.
