“Love” is the latest lead single from Monsta X
Monsta X debuted with Starship Entertainment in 2015 and the members are at a pivotal point in their careers. Just as Monsta X keeps finding new facets of love to write about, the members continue to evolve as artists and as a group.
Approaching their seven-year debut anniversary, Monsta X have deftly struck the balance of finding a signature sound while constantly exploring new genres. It’s an impressive achievement and the lead single from form of love“Love” demonstrates this.
The song begins with the band announcing “We back again, once again” before kicking off with a genre-bending single. Incorporating elements of R&B, hip-hop and jazz, the song commands listeners’ attention and sets the tone for the rest of the EP.
IM co-wrote the lyrics and Joohoney contributed to the lyrics, composition and production of the title track.

A Look at the Other Tracks on ‘Shape of Love’
After the EP’s opener, “Love”, Monsta X set in “Burn” with R3HAB. hyungwon was involved in the lyrics, composition and arrangement of the song.
While “Love” represents the boldness of unconditional love, “Burning Up” is about the tenderness of a new romance and how quickly passion can overwhelm you. From all the songs on form of lovethe chorus of “Burning Up” is hands down the catchiest.
If “Burning Up” is catchy, then the EP’s next track, “Breathe”, is its elegant brother. Sleek and to the point, “Breathe” is the only song on the six-track EP that isn’t written or produced by a member of Monsta X.
“forest fire” takes the flame of infatuation that grew in “Burning Up” and “Breathe” and turns it into fear. A song of passion turned poison captures the feeling of love that leaves a scar.
While “Wildfire” explores toxic themes, it’s the song on the EP that best illustrates Monsta X’s cohesiveness as a team, as Hyungwon, IM and Joohoney co-produced the track.
form of love wouldn’t be complete without a song dedicated to Monbebe, the Monsta X fandom. With his joyful emotion, ”사랑한다” (translated as “Eternal Love”) was made to be performed in front of fans at a concert. Both Joohoney and IM contributed to the creation of the track.
Close Monster X form of love on “And,” a track IM was heavily involved in creating. In a way, “and” serves as the antithesis of “love.” In contrast to the unconditional love sung about in the EP’s opener, “And” deals with themes of finality.
