MOHAMED ELNENY could trade the Emirates for a move to the Turkish top flight.
The midfielder, who dropped Arsenal’s pecking order, is set to join Besiktas as a free agent in the summer.
The Egypt international’s current contract with the Giants from North London expires in June of this year.
And the Turkish sports news agency FotoMac Expectations Besiktas tries to contact the player’s representatives.
Elena, 29, spent a loan spell with the club and helped them finish third in the 2019-20 season.
Super Lig outfit officials were believed to be trying to start talks with Elneny’s representatives in April over the possibility of a move.
Besiktas, who face Trabzonspor next, are reportedly looking to strengthen their defensive midfield ranks with Oguzhan Ozyakup’s contract, which expires in June.
The club, eighth in Turkey’s top flight, are also said to be looking for younger experienced alternatives to Alex Teixeira (32) and Atiba Hutchison.
Hutchison, who has 94 caps for Canada, turned 39 last month.
Besiktas coach Valerien Ismail reportedly wants to maintain a 3-4-3 formation on the pitch.
And it’s been claimed that the French-born coach sees Elneny as a suitable fit for his plans.
Elneny, who joined Arsenal in January 2016, has made 140 Gunners appearances
The Egyptian ace has netted five goals and nine assists since his £5million move from Swiss club Basel, helping the club win an FA Cup and two Community Shields.
However, the player has only made seven starts in the Prem this season with the emergence Thomas Parteys and the midfield partnership of Granit Xhaka.
