MISS Alabama for America Zoe Sozo Bethel died days after jumping from a seven-story Miami apartment in a suicide attempt, police said.
Beauty queen died of her injuries at 5:30 a.m. Friday, eight days after she was involved in the tragic incident.
Police are treating the incident as a suicide.
In a touching statement on social media, Zoe’s family said the young woman “touched the hearts of so many.”
The family also shared a series of photos of the beauty queen, including a video of her holding a “Jesus is King” flag and an image of her in a scarf.
The tragic news of Zoe’s passing comes just days after her family confirmed that she was involved in an accident.
“Zoe had an accident on Thursday night, February 10th and suffered severe brain/brainstem damage and is in a coma,” the family wrote on her Instagram.
At that time, they also shared a fundraising page for Zoe’s medical bills, received more than $41,000 in donations.
The family said the money also went to Zoe’s daughter.
“Unfortunately, doctors say the damage cannot be repaired and she may not have much time left.”
The family pleaded with Zoe’s 25,000 followers to pray, but unfortunately later confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries.
A few weeks before her death, the beauty queen shared messages of hope on her Instagram account.
She captioned a shot of herself wearing a red shirt with a quote she said was from Joan of Arc.
“One life is all we have and we live it as we believe it. But sacrificing what you have and living without faith is a more terrible fate than that. dead,” Zoe wrote on January 18.
Many of her 25,000 Instagram followers have left messages honoring Zoe.
“Her beauty, her grace, her heart… a gorgeous woman will stop anyone from following them. May she rest in peace,” the former candidate said. Republican Kimberly Klacik said.
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” added conservative commentator Tomi Lahren.
Zoe is also a conservative commentator and has collaborated with Project Veritas and Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA.
She is the current Miss Alabama USA, not Miss Alabama, as they are two different organisations.
