The insulation made by Kingspan was one of the products used on the exterior of Grenfell Tower, where 72 people died in a fire in June 2017.

And the role of the company’s product in the tragedy is now the subject of a public investigation.

The Grenfell United pressure group, which includes survivors and bereaved family members, has written to Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff to show their disdain at the link.

And UK Government Secretary Michael Gove also sent a letter to Wolff stressing that he changed his mind about the deal with Kingspan.

Mercedes, who affixed the Kingspan logo on their vehicles for the Saudi Grand Prix, has now confirmed the end of that partnership by mutual consent.

ONE statement from Mercedes released on Wednesday said: “The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team and Kingspan today announce that they have agreed to end their partnership.

“Announced last week, the new partnership includes Kingspan chairing a new Sustainability Working Group for the group and aims to reduce carbon through leading environmental sustainability solutions for the group’s future campus.

“However, both parties subsequently concluded that progressing the partnership at this time was not appropriate, despite its expected positive impact, and we therefore agreed Notice that it will cease cooperation immediately.”

A Kingspan statement said it was “deeply aware of the sensitivities raised in recent days and as such we have mutually agreed that moving forward at this time is not appropriate”.

They went on to say that they “had no role to play in the refurbishment of Grenfell Tower” and that the UK insulation business was “a core participant in the Grenfell Tower Claim and fully supported the industry”. importance of the Request”.

Grenfell United responded by insisting Mercedes had “done the right thing”, before adding: “With justice still so far away, these small steps encourage us to keep fighting.”

Meanwhile, Mercedes is currently preparing for a giant world title deciders in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

OFFERewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen currently at LEVEL for points towards the fascinating final race of the 2021 season.
