Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals features two of basketball’s best teams.

The Dallas Mavericks quickly finished off the Utah Jazz without Luka Doncic for most of their first-round streak.

The same can be said of the Phoenix Suns, who only had Devin Booker for 2 1/2 games in their streak.

Both teams survived and every player should go into this highly entertaining series perfectly healthy.

Let’s start with this: In his career, Doncic has only been eliminated from the playoffs by Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers. Those two playoff series were incredibly close, and even last year’s series was seven games. At this point in the postseason, the Clippers were the favorites to win it all before Leonard tore his cruciate ligament.

The Mavericks are a very dangerous team and even the loss of Kristaps Porzingis appears to have been an addition through subtraction. Here are the stats you need to know:

• The Mavericks finished the regular season with a 23-7 record after trading Kristaps Porzingis, who had the most wins in the NBA with the Celtics (23-6).

• They have the most 3-point points per game in the playoffs (15.5) in 30 games. This is a drastic increase from the previous 52 games in which they averaged 12.3 three-pointers, just 14th in the league.

Conversely, the Suns don’t take nearly as many 3-pointers. They take the second fewest 3-point points per game, just 27.2 per game, and make the second fewest (8.7).

This series is won or lost by 3 points for the Mavericks. They don’t have very many big men to deny drives from Chris Paul or defend dump-offs against Deandre Ayton.

The Mavericks can get hot in any game, which would be very difficult for the Suns. For player prop betting, all 3-pointer bets are worthwhile, especially for players like Reggie Bullock, Doncic and even Dorian Finney-Smith

Considering those numbers above, the Mavericks were so good to end the year that they’re worth holding on until proven otherwise — even against the Suns.

This will be an automatic bet for the entire series, even against a top-flight defense like Phoenix. Doncic had three 40-plus point games in the seven-game streak against the Clippers last year. +630 implies he does it once in this series, which has turned out to be largely untrue.
