Allison LeSage, case manager, said: “Over 300 families, Marquette Quận County Salvation Army. “Last year, the number was 312 and more than 750 children received gifts through this toy store.”

This is Allison LeSage’s first year running a toy store program for The Salvation Army. She said she’s thrilled to have spread some Christmas cheer to families who might not have had a chance without the event.

“It’s a great feeling,” LeSage said. “The joy and appreciation from these families makes all that hard work worthwhile.”

This distribution not only provides Christmas presents, but they also give gift baskets with essentials to help these families get through the holidays. A Marquette County man told The Salvation Army about his experience receiving help for his family.

“It had an effect on my children that I think probably had the most because even though we didn’t have the things we needed to get through, we were given gas cards, we were given food, they were given food. I was given a Christmas present. when it was tough, in the harder years,” the customer said in a video. “We were able to come down and get the help we needed.”

LeSage said it is distributing the toys in Alger County on December 18. Then on December 20, 21, and 22 in Marquette County.

“Unfortunately due to COVID we are still picking up guests at the curb so our amazing volunteers are actually doing the shopping for the kids and then we unpack for them and the families passing by. drive and take their toys, and LeSage said.

Families in need can sign up for the toy program through December 10.

“So they can sign up for a saangeltree.org and everything they need to do is on that site,” LeSage said. “If they have any problems, they can call our Marquette or Ishpeming Offices.”

The Salvation Army is collecting items for distribution right before the event. LeSage says they are in dire need of items aimed at teenagers. If you can help by donating your time and volunteering to the event, call the Marquette Office at (906) 226-2241.
